MediaWorks Radio is the number one network in the country with 2,149,800 listeners tuning in every week across its nine radio brands*. 

MediaWorks owns RadioLIVE, The Edge, The Rock, Mai FM, More FM, GeorgeFM, The Sound, The Breeze and Magic stations.

The latest GFK radio ratings have revealed MediaWorks stations have 51.8%** of the audience - more than 14 percentage points ahead of its nearest competitor. 

In the top 13 major markets, MediaWorks Radio achieved its highest ever figure in the latest survey results, growing its total audience to 1.695 million*.

In the survey, the major markets are Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch as well as Waikato, Taranaki, Southland, Dunedin, Northland, Rotorua, Tauranga, Hawkes Bay, Manawatu and Nelson.

The brand’s breakfast shows did particularly well with 51.3 percent of the country’s 6am-9am audience tuning in to a MediaWorks station.

Major Market breakfast growth matched this, increasing MediaWorks audience share to 51.4%** and gaining 44,900 new listeners to 1,141,100*.

There were also outstanding results in the commercial demographic of listeners aged 25-54 who made up a network share of 56.3% of the total audience***. This is more than 23 percentage points ahead of MediaWorks’ nearest competitor. 

In that same demographic, MediaWorks has the most popular four stations nationwide The Sound, The Rock, More FM and The Edge. 

The Edge takes the title for the country’s most popular station with 662,700 listeners. More FM is the second most popular music station, attracting 497,600 listeners. 

Paul Henry on RadioLIVE has matched its success on television with growth in Major Market share and a new audience high of 125,600 listeners per week*. In total New Zealand audience, the show attracts 160,000 weekly listeners.  In afternoons, Drive with Duncan Garner, grew Major Market share and audience by a staggering 16,300 per week*.

Mai FM is New Zealand’s number one Hip Hop & RnB station, and Auckland’s number one music station** – led by Auckland’s most popular music breakfast, drive and night shows**.

The Sound confirmed its position as the number one station in its target demographic of listeners aged 45-64 as well as 25-54. 

The Rock, George FM and The Breeze delivered strong results across a number of key demographics, while Magic demonstrated continuous growth.

The results also show MediaWorks Radio is number one in both share and total audience in all key commercial demographics: 10+, 18-39, 25-54 and Household Shoppers.
