New Zealand's digital technology sector is converging on Wellington for ITx.

It's New Zealand's technology mega-conference, a collaboration of 12 tech-focused conferences with 150 plus talks, presentations, panels and sessions over three days, according to the Institute of IT Professionals.

Economic Development Minister Steven Joyce opens the conference in Wellington at 9:15am on Monday. The programme calls him "minister of many things".

The keynote international speaker Edith Yeung, the founding partner of 500 Start-ups Mobile Collective will speak on "trends in the Valley" and how to get funding for start-up ventures.

The collective manages $273 million and funds 1500 start-ups.

On the local front, Ian Taylor, founder of Animation Research will talk about collaboration in New Zealand's tech sector and what it takes to make it there.

The New Zealand Excellence in IT Awards will be presented at a dinner on Tuesday night.
