Barrister and professional director Jane Taylor will be the new chair of NZ Post when Sir Michael Cullen retires later this year.
Ms Taylor's appointment was announced on Monday by Finance Minister Bill English and State Owned Enterprises Minister Todd McClay.
"Ms Taylor is a highly experienced commercial Crown director and chair who will bring to the board experience of the Crown environment, relevant industry experience and a collaborative leadership style," Mr McClay said.
She is currently the chair of Landcare Research, deputy chair of Radio New Zealand, a director of Silver Fern Farms, Hirepool and OTPP NZ Forest Investments, and was formerly a director of Heartland NZ, GNS Science, Scion, REANNZ and on the Legal Services Agency Board.
Sir Michael steps down at the end of October.
