Many of us have been looking at the property market and the exorbitant prices with no help in sight.

With the average Auckland house price hitting $1 million, sale prices go up, along with the incomes of real estate agents.

One couple believes they're turning the real estate industry on its head through their website. You can buy and sell houses without a real estate agent - an idea borne in the nerve-wracking auction room.

Sellers do their own marketing and open homes. Buyers can secure a house without leaving the couch and through online auctions.

It's simple enough and the industry is scared.

But is this a brilliant or risky idea?
