Topshop is launching an online store for New Zealand shoppers, but Australian shoppers will get theirs first.

The clothing giant will launch its Australian web store in April, with plans for a New Zealand site in the latter half of 2017.

Managing director Jamie Whiting says the priority is still opening physical stores - plans for a second Auckland store and a Christchurch joint are in the mix.

"It is very important for the brand to provide a unique and memorable in store experience and this can only be achieved through brick and mortar," Mr Whiting told Fairfax.

The clothing giant has nearly 500 stores worldwide. The online store will offer a wider range that won't be season-specific.
