Only 52 per cent of Kiwi customers who use Australian-owned banks ANZ and Westpac were satisfied with its service, a survey suggests.
In the Consumer NZ 2017 People's Choice awards for banking, Westpac stood out for its sub-par rating below average on everything from branch service to value for money, the consumer watchdog says.
Other Australian-owned banks, ANZ, ASB and BNZ also came in at the bottom of the rankings compared to New Zealand-owned TSB and Kiwibank.
TSB Bank won top overall customer satisfaction result, followed by Co-operative Bank and Kiwibank.
Two-thirds of TSB Bank and Kiwibank customers said business with a New Zealand-owned company was one of the main benefits.
The survey sampled 1085 people over the age of 18.
