ASB credit, debit cards hit by outage

For the second time in a fortnight, bank customers have been left unable to use their debit cards and credit cards.

ASB bank noticed the issue on Thursday evening, but the problem appeared to flare back up again on Friday afternoon.

More than 65 people reported issues since 2pm on outage reporting website Down Detector.

Some took to social media to report their cards being declined on transactions, despite having enough money in their account.

ASB posted a tweet acknowledging the problem.

"Some customers debit or credit card transactions are being declined unexpectedly at the moment. Our team are working on this urgently!"

They've since posted a follow-up, saying the problem has been fixed.

Last week, Westpac had a similar issue that left customers unable to access their funds.
