Tourists hitting bars, nightclubs before traditional tourist spots - Uber

New figures released by Uber suggest international tourists are coming to New Zealand not for the scenery or extreme sports, but for the pumping nightlife.

The most requested tourist destinations in our three major cities are largely clubs and bars, Uber revealed on Sunday.

In the top 10 drop-off spots for international Uber riders in Auckland, Ponsonby Central, popular club Longroom and viaduct bar Danny Doolan's were all included, alongside more traditional tourist spots like the Sky Tower and Mt Smart Stadium. 

Courtney Pl, the major nightlife hub in Wellington. is the number one drop-off spot for tourists in our capital city, while the casino and bars The Bog and Baretta made up the top three in Christchurch..  

International tourists account for up to 10 percent of all Uber trips in New Zealand cities.
