Tauranga Lotto winner takes home $1 million

One lucky Lotto player from the Bay of Plenty has become an instant millionaire after taking out Lotto's First Division on Saturday night.

The winning ticket was bought at AJ's Lotto in Tauranga, according to a media release, and any players who entered the draw from that store have been urged to check it immediately.

Powerball was not won which means it rolls over to Wednesday night, when a whopping $27 million jackpot will be up for grabs.

No Lotto players were successful in winning Strike Four either, so that also rolls over and will provide one punter with a none-too-shabby $300,000 if they win it on Wednesday.

Last Saturday night, four lucky punters split first division, each taking home a cool $250,000.
