A farmer has shot and killed two dogs that were attacking sheep on his property near Christchurch, just days after several animals were mauled to death in the area.
Animal control officers have since been in touch with the dogs' owner and issued them with a $400 fine, council regulatory compliance acting unit manager Tracey Weston told Fairfax Media.
But they were unable to confirm if the same dogs were involved in the attack on Saturday, which left some sheep with major damage to their ears, noses, legs and faces.
Around 25 to 30 sheep were reportedly killed over three properties during the rampage.
