The final witness in the murder trial over the death of Millie Elder-Holmes' 26-year-old boyfriend is due to take the stand.
Michael Murray, 34, is on trial in the High Court at Auckland accused of murdering Connor Morris in Massey by striking him on the head with a long-handled sickle.
The defence is expected to call its final witness this morning - but it hasn't said who the witness will be.
On Tuesday, Murray took the stand, telling the court how he had feared for the life of his younger brother, Stanley, whom he had looked after since childhood after their mother died from cancer.
"I stepped forward ... I closed my eyes and swung."
His brother, Stanley Popata Murray, also gave evidence, describing how he was curled up in a ball and being beaten on the ground before Murray turned up with the sickle.
Mr Popata Murray will continue giving evidence today.
Mr Morris was attacked during a street brawl between two groups that broke out on Don Buck Road in August last year.
