Three years after he lost two comrades in Afghanistan, a Burnham soldier has honoured their memory.

It's the third anniversary of the Battle of Baghak that claimed the lives of  Dion Taka's fellow soldiers Pralli Durrer and Rory Malone, and left him critically injured.

He says he didn't want to let another year pass without formally acknowledging their passing, so today he and his friends took to the road.

Mr Taka organised the Ride for Remembrance. A convoy of motorcyclists and military vehicles gathered at the gates of Burnham Military Camp this morning and made their way across to Akaroa for a BBQ lunch.
