An earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale has shaken the lower North Island.
The quake struck about 7:50am today, 5km east of Eketahuna and 8km deep, GeoNet says.
It described the quake as of strong intensity.
More than 300 people reported feeling the earthquake on GeoNet's website in the minutes following the quake.
Police said there had been no reports of damage.
