Police are hoping the public can help identify the lone male offender who robbed a Rotorua bar on Wednesday this week.

The robbery occurred at the Kiwi Spirit bar on Hinemoa St around 7:55 am when a female member of staff went to investigate an issue and was met by the offender who forced his way into the bar.

He then proceeded to steal a significant amount of money.

Police have released security camera footage to aid in the search for the offender, showing the man dressed in a hoodie with a fluorescent pattern and a bright orange single strap shoulder bag.

The female staff member who saw him also mentioned he has a scar or burn mark on the inside of his wrist which is quite distinctive.

Police say he approached the bar by walking down an alleyway from Eruera St to Hinemoa and he has also left the vicinity the same way. He has reportedly then got into a car which was waiting for him and has been driven away.

Police would like to hear from anybody that may have been in the area at the time, who may have seen the man or the vehicle he got away in.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Rotorua police on (07) 348 0099 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
