A man who died while in police handcuffs outside a Te Puke home on Wednesday has been named as 55-year-old Riko Ahomiro.
Police were executing a search warrant on the property, when Mr Ahomiro suddenly collapsed.
CPR was administered by police until paramedics arrived, but they were unable to revive him.
A firearm was seen on the property during the search was being executed which is why the man was in handcuffs.
The incident has been referred to the coroner.
