Two dairies were robbed in Christchurch earlier this evening and police are seeking anyone with information on either robbery, saying that the crimes may be linked.

At about 6pm, two people entered a dairy on Hoon Hay Road and one threatened store staff with a pistol.

After a confrontation with the staff, they left the dairy empty-handed.

Police say they were called to another dairy on Selwyn Street at around 6:15pm, where the offenders made off with a small amount of tobacco and a small amount of cash, and say there are similarities between the two offences.

Anyone with information about either attack is urged to contact the Christchurch police.
