The 10-year-old boy who suffered a serious head injury following an accident with an electric fence standard has started to recover in hospital.
The young boy was hospitalised after the serious incident at an Invercargill school on Friday, and was admitted to Dunedin Hospital for surgery.
He was put into an induced coma but police say his condition is improving slowly.
Another young boy, aged nine, picked up the fence standard while walking to school.
He was playing with the other youngster when the accident occurred.
Police and Victim Support are continuing to help the families involved, as well as school staff and pupils.
