A fire at a primary school near Ngaruawahia is being treated as suspicious.
Firefighters were called to Glen Massey School in Waingaro Rd at about 7:30am today and found the fire was well ablaze when they arrived, says fire service northern communications shift manager Jaron Phillips.
The main office block, which has a classroom attached, was on fire but firefighters were able to quickly contain the blaze.
The fire started outside the building and spread to part of the roof area.
The fire is being treated as suspicious and investigators are at the scene today.
The school, which is in the village of Glen Massey about 9km west of Ngaruawahia, celebrated its centenary this year, according to a Facebook page for the event.
The primary school has about 105 students.
