A man is on the run after attacking a police officer in Parakai, Helensville yesterday.
Mansell Tehiritangi Penetana, 30, has an outstanding warrant to arrest after he failed to appear in the Waitakere District Court on a serious assault charge.
Police say he turned on an arresting officer yesterday, attacked him and then fled the scene.
Penetana is described as Maori, of solid build and 176cm tall. Police warn he may appear different from the supplied photograph.
It is possible he is in the Whangarei area with family and associates.
Penetana is considered dangerous, and members of the public are urged not to approach him.
