The family of 10-year-old Levin boy Alex Fisher have asked media to keep a respectful distance at his funeral.
It will be held at the Levin Salvation Army centre today, after his body was found at Waitarere Beach on Thursday afternoon following three days of searching by police, volunteers and the army.
Police say Alex's family have asked media to stay outside the centre's hall for the funeral and not record the service.
The funeral follows a Waitarere community vigil held for Alex attended by hundreds on Sunday.
Over the weekend police revealed Alex had suffered head injuries and that they were looking at a particular burglary in connection to this death.
