Counties Manukau Police have posted a moving video to their Facebook page, encouraging motorists to take care on the roads over Labour Weekend.

The tribute, posted online this morning, has been viewed more than 48,000 times and shared more than 1500 times.

In the video, a police officer flicks through a series of cards with the names of 15 fatal car crash victims on Manukau roads this year, and how they died.

It then compares it to last year's road toll of four.

Earlier today police released a statement asking drivers to keep their heads in the game and their eyes on the road.

With mention to the Rugby World Cup Semi-final on Sunday, police are asking drivers to be extra vigilant and to take heed of the holiday 4km/h speed limit.

Police will be saturating the country from today until 6am on Tuesday, focussing on speeding, drink driving and breaching licence conditions.

In 2014 three people died on the roads during the Labour Weekend period and there were 78 reported injuries.
