Wellington production company Pukeko Pictures will create a sister series to animated pre-school TV show The WotWots under a new deal signed with a Chinese entertainment group.

The new show, Kiddets, will be co-produced with the Guangdong Huawen Century Animation Company.

Pukeko Pictures, which also helps produce Thunderbirds Are Go with ITV Studios, is hopeful the deal will be the first of many.

"We want Kiddets to be the first of many business ventures with Guangdong Huawen Century Animation Company over the next 10 years or more," said chief executive Clive Spink.

The deal will take advantage of a co-production agreement between the countries.

The WotWots is broadcast in more than 90 countries and follows the escapades on Earth of alien brother and sister SpottyWot and DottyWot.
