Cordons lifted after Palmerston North bomb threat

Two bags dumped at the Ministry of Social Development's Palmerston North office pose no risk to the public, police say.

Cordons have been lifted around the building after police investigated bags left at the site.

Police initially said the bags had been left by a disgruntled man who had previously made threats against staff.

However, they later said there was no bomb threat, and "no threats of any kind were made."
