End of an era for charity teddy bear

Wellington department store Kirkcaldie & Stains has produced its last ever charity teddy bear.

Thousands of bears have been sold since the bears were first produced in 2006 and with the store closing, their run is coming to an end.

"There has been a lot of interest in the last Kirkcaldies Christmas charity bear already," says Kirkcaldies Promotions Manager, Lyn Tait.

"This last bear will be the 10th bear the store has produced. Over the years they've become a real collector's item," she says.

The bears are dressed as the store's doorman.

Eighteen-hundred of the bears have been ordered and five boxes of them have already been sold.

Australian department store will take over prime spot on Lambton Quay nest year.
