The Government is putting up an extra $500,000 to help the flood clean-up in Whanganui and South Taranaki.

Severe flooding in June caused extensive damage and today's announcement brings the government's total input to $1 million.

Social Development Minister Anne Tolley activated Enhanced Task Force Green after the flood, which employed local beneficiaries to help with the clean-up and infrastructure repairs.

The additional funding will be used by councils and an iwi authority to employ jobseekers and supervisors.

"While a lot of cleaning up and repair work has been done, there is still some that needs to be completed," Mrs Tolley said.
