Renwick in the Marlborough has the best online hotel reputation in New Zealand, with its hotels at an average of 92.68, according to a ranking compiled by trivago.co.nz.
Kerikeri follows with an 89.82, then Russell, Arrowtown, Martinborough, Whakatane, Mouteka and Hanmer Springs.
Auckland ranks 29th in the North Island and Manukau is 30th and they're just pipped by Wellington on 28, though Lower Hutt is on 21.
Palmerston North ranks above both Auckland and Wellington in the North island breakdown.
In the South Island Christchurch ranks 24th, behind Greymouth on 23 but ahead of Fox Glacier Village on 25. Invercargill is 12th in the South Island rankings.
In a breakdown of individual properties, Lakeside Apartments in Wanaka has a 95.72 rating and is the best rated in the country.
Bluestone on George in Dunedin follows, then the Millbrook Resort at Arrowtown and The Dairy in Queenstown.
In the North Island, the Bellrock Lodge in Russell is the island's No.1 hotel.
The Canterbury region has the most hotels featured of any destination, with eight of its properties making the national list.
