Seven men have been arrested in a series of raids across the Bay of Plenty following an investigation into how two men were shot in Rotorua last week.
One man was taken to Rotorua Hospital in a critical condition while another was also shot following the incident involving a large group of men that locked down a local school in Western Heights on December 11.
The armed offenders squad, along with local police, executed search warrants at properties in Western Heights and Mamaku today to arrest seven men on firearm offences.
During the raids police recovered five guns, a number of other weapons and cannabis.
The seven men, aged between 19 and 59, will appear in Rotorua District Court tomorrow.
