Police have named a 24-year-old man killed during a fight in Auckland.
Emergency services were called to investigate the fight involving the man, a friend and others in Mt Albert early yesterday.
Nathan Matai Pukeroa of Whangarei died at the scene and his friend was seriously injured.
"Our focus today has been on trying to establish the nature of the attack on Mr Pukeroa and his associate who discharged himself from Auckland Hospital last night," Detective Senior Sergeant Andrew Fabish said today.
"We believe both men were stabbed and we'd very much like to hear from anyone who has information about who is responsible."
Police have completed a scene examination outside 21 Renton Road and are now searching the address for clues.
"I ask that all residents in the area search their properties and advise police if they find any sharp items or potential weapons."
Victim Support are aiding Mr Pukeroa's family.
