Uber may be forced to hike fares to and from Wellington Airport as it enters into licencing negotiations for the first time.
The talks have been prompted by complaints from other taxi companies who have to pay a fee to operate from the airport.
There are currently some restrictions on Uber drivers.
They're allowed to drop passengers off, but can't pick them up - however this isn't strictly enforced.
A spokesperson for the airport says they are working through the licensing process with Uber to ensure a level playing field for all taxi operators.
