Wanted man Steven Gunbie has been caught following a raid in the Coromandel.
Police executed a search warrant for Gunbie, 37, who has been wanted in relation to the murder of Lance John Murphy this afternoon in Waihi.
He has been charged with kidnapping but police have not ruled out further charges.
Lance Murphy, 56, was last seen alive at a petrol station in Warkworth on November 21.
His car was found five days later in a nearby street and police forensic testing revealed his blood was found in his car before Mr Murphy's body was found a rural property in Wellsford on Monday.
A 51-year-old man appeared in Manukau District Court on Monday charged with his murder.
Gunbie had taunted police in the lead up to his arrest, commenting "here I am" on a photo of himself that Counties Manukau Police had posted on Facebook.
He also wrote another post, which said: "Mr gunbies were abouts is driving around without a licence".
Gunbie will appear in Counties Manukau District Court tomorrow.
