Wellington sporting identities have joined with volunteers to help deliver Christmas hampers to needy families in the capital.
Cricket World Cup hero Grant Elliott joined with some of his Wellington Firebirds teammates and Hurricanes props Jeff Toomaga-Allen and Reggie Goodes to help distribute the goods donated to the Wellington City Mission.
The Christmas Eve delivery of 100 hampers containing food and gifts marks the final day of the Mission's Christmas Star Appeal, which has already provided more than 1000 food parcels and toys this festive season.
"We've received a lot of donations this year - people have been incredibly generous. It's just wonderful to receive them and pass them on to people who will enjoy them," said City Missioner the Rev Tric Malcolm.
"For a lot of them it is such an uplifting experience. They have that opportunity to just relax and enjoy their Christmas without worrying about what they don't have."
