The actions of drunk people at two camping grounds in Manawatu are ruining family holidays, police say.
Police were called four times to Vinegar Hill campsite, near Hunterville, on New Year's Eve and four times to a Levin campground in the past two days.
They were called over alcohol-fuelled disorderly behaviour, fighting, assaults and dangerous driving.
A small group of drunk people at Vinegar Hill had "made it difficult for family groups camping alongside them to enjoy what should have been a lovely night", says Manawatu Area Commander Inspector Sarah Stewart.
The New Year's event at the campground was well run and caused no issues, she said.
Police would be working with Manawatu and Horowhenua District Councils to look at ways to prevent this behaviour from happening in the future, she said.
