One man has been arrested after leading police on a chase around the Wellington region this morning.
Wellington District police followed a car after it failed to stop at the bottom of the Ngauranga Gorge at around 10:30am.
The driver, initially spotted by road police in Plimmerton, fled down State Highway 1 towards Wellington then exited onto State Highway 2 towards the Hutt Valley.
Police then stopped the car with road spikes just before the Haywards Hill lights on SH2.
The man is now in custody.
Four firearms, one of which was loaded, were found inside his vehicle.
He has existing warrants for his arrest in Manawatu.
