Sir Peter Jackson has resigned as a director of Weta Workshop.
The company has confirmed new health and safety laws are behind the movie mogul's big move.
The law change requires Sir Peter to be more involved on a daily basis which the 54-year- old feels he's not able to do so he's decided to step down.
The company has had its hand in many of the world's biggest blockbuster films including Lord of the Rings trilogy, Mad Max, The Hobbit trilogy, the Narnia series and The Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
