Opinion: Is this sand worth $2500 a metre?

It is paradise? Yes.

Golden? Yes.

I take my family to the Abel Tasman National Park every year for our summer holidays. We love how the sand glows and the water is crystal clear.

It is both stunning and beautiful, and a secret from those stuck in Auckland

The golden beaches stretch for miles up the Tasman coastline, from Marahau to Totaranui and beyond.

The beach stretches along 800 metres -- the cost over two million dollars.

As a rough calculation that's $2500 a metre of coastline.

The campaign to save the beach is a popular one and one everyone can identify with.

I think the Government has missed a golden opportunity to purchase it outright -- but they could be key to securing the sand for future generations

Is the beach worth $2500 a metre? You bet it is.
