A Navy dive crew has reportedly retrieved the body of a Chinese deckhand who fell overboard and failed to resurface this morning.
According to police, the man fell 10m into the harbour at around 9:21am today.
It is understood the body was retrieved around 12:20pm.
Senior Sergeant Karl Konlechner said earlier it was a "tragic incident", but praised the prompt help from the Navy.
"The police are very grateful for the prompt response from the NZ Navy personnel who were in the port at the time and quickly joined the search."
WorkSafe has been notified of the incident.
