Rubbish spill brings Akl motorway to standstill

A rubbish spill has brought traffic on one of Auckland's busiest motorways to a crawl.

Debris had fallen from a contractor's truck near the Greenlane off-ramp on the southern motorway this morning, but was been cleared by 6am, a police spokesman says.

Three lanes of State Highway 1 are now open, but traffic is moving very slowly towards the city, the New Zealand Transport Agency says.
