A Givealittle page has been set up for Westland High School after a fire yesterday severely damaged parts of the school.

The school has closed its doors until further notice and a Year 13 peer support camp scheduled for this week will no longer go ahead.

Seven fire crews and a helicopter with a monsoon bucket battled the blaze all afternoon.

The fire was in the two-storey administration building and the school hall's roof.

The school says it has completely destroyed the hall, admin block and staff room as well as the performing arts classroom, IT servers and internal corridors. There is also significant water and smoke damage throughout.

The money from the Givealittle page will go towards rebuilding the school. The fire comes just days into the start of the school year.
