New Zealanders have come through on their promise of pledges for the Abel Tasman beach, with 99.2 percent successfully donated.

More than 40,000 Kiwis pledged for Awaroa Inlet in the Abel Tasman National Park, raising a total of $2,278,171.09.

The country waited on edge until organisers Duane Major and Adam Gardner confirmed the tender was successful on February 24.

The Government even chipped in, topping up the fund with $350,000.

Mr Major says around 100 people have been in touch with Givealittle about credit card issues, to make sure their donations were counted.

The deal is set to be signed on March 18.
