Police will be upping their presence in Nelson this weekend to chaperone Hells Angels bikies who are in town for their annual poker run.
Around 100 people took part in last year's event with police issuing more than 50 infringement notices for a range of driving offences.
Inspector Mat Arnold-Kelly says officers will be keeping an eye on road safety and maintaining public order during this year's poker run.
"We want to send a clear message to gangs that the people of Nelson will not tolerate anti-social behaviour and drugs in our community," he said.
"Gangs are the main driver of methamphetamine trade in this country and we do not want that here."
A poker run takes participants to a series of checkpoints where they play poker at each one. The object is to have the best poker hand at the end of the run.
