A Latvian man has been arrested in Auckland after allegedly trying to smuggle $1.5 million of P into the country.

The 20-year-old was arrested on Saturday night after Customs officers caught him with 1.5 kilograms of methamphetamine in his luggage at Auckland Airport.

Customs said the man, who arrived from Dubai, had allegedly hidden the drugs inside boxes of neck ties and baby carriers.

He appeared in Manukau District Court today.

Customs investigations manager Maurice O'Brien said airport officers had found the man by profiling him before searching his luggage.
