A toddler left fighting for his life after falling from a wharf near Great Barrier Island is now out of a coma.
The 18-month-old was left in critical condition following the fall at Rangiahua last week.
He and his three-year-old sister were both flown to Starship Children's Hospital after receiving CPR following the same accident on March 11.
On Saturday, an Auckland DHB spokeswoman said the boy had woken from his coma and was recovering in a stable condition.
His sister was discharged earlier in the week.
