Fred the dog made some new friends this Easter weekend -- a pod of dolphins.
Fred, a Labrador cross, was out on a boat in Kaikoura with his owner and some friends, when a pod of dolphins began swimming around the boat.
Laura Hitchon, who took the video, says Fred saw the pod and jumped in straight in.
The dolphins didn't seem to mind, swimming and jumping around him as he swam.
The family, who are from Christchurch, were in Kaikoura for Easter weekend and say this isn't the first time Fred's been swimming with dolphins.
His owner Nigel often takes Fred out in his boat and whenever he sees dolphins, jumps right in for a swim.
