A quilted criminal has kept his burglary of a south Auckland home under wraps by masking himself with a child's duvet.

The blanketed bandit, described as a slim Caucasian in his 20s, crawled on the floor of the Dannemora home to avoid having his face caught by the property's cameras.

Sergeant John Roberts of the Counties Manukau police tactical crime unit said the duvet-wearing delinquent stole a number of items, including cash and jewellery.

Police are wanting blanket coverage of the incident in order to identify the bedspread-ridden bandit, urging those with any information to contact Sgt Roberts on 09 261 1300 or to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
