A motorcyclist trying to evade the long arm of the law by hiding chest deep in Waitemata Harbour has been finally nabbed by police.
It took 90 minutes before the soggy man gave up his vigil and he was arrested after stepping out of the water.
He'd caught the attention of officers when he was seen driving erratically on the Northwestern Motorway in Auckland this evening.
He failed to stop for police, sparking a pursuit.
After he was unable to shake officers, he ditched his bike and ran into the sea, wading up to his chest in the deep water while waiting for police to abandon the chase.
Instead, police watched him from a helicopter while other staff on the ground waited for him to come out of the water.
He was arrested for failing to stop for police.
