A man charged with murder following the discovery of a woman's body south of Auckland has denied the crime.
Name suppression has lapsed for the man, known only as Akash, 24, who appeared in the High Court at Auckland on Wednesday.
He was charged with murder after the 22-year-old woman's body was found in by the side of a road in Hampton Downs on April 10.
His lawyer, Jane Northwood, entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.
At the time of the death police said they believed it was domestic-related and no one else was being sought.
A two-week trial is set down for February next year and Akash has been remanded in custody.
