Sentencing date delayed for Michael Te Huia

Sentencing date delayed for Michael Te Huia

An Auckland man found guilty on 21 charges of violent sexual acts and physical abuse has had his sentencing date delayed.

Michael Te Huia's offending stretched across a 30 year period.

At his sentencing today Te Huia indicated to the court he wanted legal representation, after dismissing two lawyers provided to him at his trial.

Justice Duffy told Te Huia this was "the last indulgence the criminal justice system will afford him", and gave him until the middle of next month to arrange legal representation.

He's now due to be sentenced on May 19.
