Solider's body to be removed after hunting incident

Police have named the Defence Force soldier who was killed while hunting in the Hawke's Bay yesterday.

Twenty-three-year-old Danny Rion Jordan was in the Ruahine Ranges with two army friends, when he was shot by a hunter from another party.

He was based at Linton Military Camp.

Mr Jordan's body has now been removed from the remote bushland and will undergo a post mortem examination today.

A police spokesperson says all those involved in the incident have now been formally interviewed.

A dog was also injured in the incident, and it could be some time before police make a decision on whether any charges will be laid.
