Armed police respond to Morrinsville incident

Waikato police say reports of shots being fired when officers responded to an alert in Morrinsville, came from tear gas being deployed, not a gun.

Police and the armed offenders squad were called following a report a man was on the roof of a house with a firearm.

When police went into the home, there was no evidence of a firearm and no one was found.

They believe it was an isolated incident between two neighbours and want to speak with the man who was supposedly at the house to find out what happened.

They do not believe there is any risk to any other member of the public.
