A playground in Christchurch has been cordoned off after the body of a man was discovered this morning, but police aren't treating it as suspicious.

Emergency services are at the incident on Goulding Ave, in the suburb of Hornby. A member of the public found the body, believed to be a 27-year-old man, police say.

The body was covered by a tarpaulin but has since been taken away.

The reserve is near the Dress Smart shopping outlet.

Police say they're not looking for anyone in relation to the death and the circumstances are not suspicious.
